I am an engineer who leads engineering teams while staying close to the systems we build and the work that ships.
Outside of work, I am usually in the water or on the road: swimming, diving, traveling with my family, and taking photos along the way.
Engineering, divig and photography fit together better than they sound. I enjoy complex environments, careful preparation, and getting the details right, whether that is a production system, frame or a dive plan.
What I do at work¶
I am an Engineering Director and Head of Engineering in Global Solutions Engineering (HERE Professional Services), based in Berlin.
What that looks like in practice:
- I lead engineers working across embedded and cloud systems, using HERE Technologies products to solve real customer problems in automotive and other industries.
- I help teams translate customer needs into shipped solutions, and improve delivery so it stays predictable as we scale.
- I support mission-critical production systems, including 24/7 support.
- I align teams across three countries around shared ways of working, clearer ownership, and smoother handoffs.
Experience¶
I have more than 20 years of experience building software and leading teams, from hands-on engineering and architecture to running multi-country organizations. I have worked across mapping and location, automotive, telecom, banking, and e-commerce. My focus has stayed consistent: happy customer, practical engineering and reliability in production.
What I do in my free time¶
When I am not working, you will usually find me in the water or planning the next trip. I swim regularly, dive and travel when I can, and I often bring a camera.
Photography¶
Most of my photography is in or underwater, with travel as part of the story.
I focus on caves, wrecks, marine life, reef ecosystems, and the landscapes you only see below the surface. I shoot with whatever I have available at the time, mostly with me belowed Sony A7C and wide lenses.

Diving¶
Scuba diving is both the subject and the vehicle for my photography.
I log dives across Europe, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, and beyond. I enjoy the full range of dives, from relaxed recreational to deep technical and cave dives.
